    Terminative 3 Classes

Post by Hugo on Mon May 16, 2011 11:35 am

    How does this work?

Hello there. If you are registered (so you're a new student), then you may visit classes (all available classes: here), suiting your player level. You join in on the Terminative 3 EC server (click: servers) when the teacher's class starts (time) (preferably 5 mins before a start). Sometimes a class will happen on a different server. Or maybe always happen on a different server. Sometimes the server will even be passworded. Your teacher will write that information down in his class topic, so that you are always ready. Therefore, when you follow a class series, always keep checking the forums for updates by your teacher. New players always get a level 1 student status (automatically, whether you join in on classes or not). You can only visit classes for level 1 students, until you do / pass an exam which may give you acces to a new class. Often two or three different levels are combined in one class (lvl 1,2,3 and 4,5 or 6,7 etc.). When you reach a new level that gives you acces to a new class, then you may take this class. Further, you can always join in on classes. You must be on IRC and Mumble, so that we can communicate with you and the teacher can explain / coach you. More on that: here. You do not need a microphone, as you may react ingame (typing). But if you feel like it, then you are free to plug in your microphone and talk with the instructor and other students. A teacher always uses Mumble to explain (voice-chat). This way classes will go faster, and we are able to give you feedback and coaching without any 'typing' delay. Every teacher has his own small rules, but in general you keep your mouth shut and listen when that is asked from you. We teach JKA as a whole, in aspects. That means that you will not instantly improve after one class. It will take time, and you will get worse at first! But in the longrun, you will be able to fight against the best players around. If you do not like that idea. Then you can always ask for incidental trainings (dynamic teaching) or just ask any knight or instructor (see: groups) to give you person to person training (Master - Padawan). Instructors and higher ranked people are allowed to do official classes or provide dynamic consultancy (teachings) when they did exams and followed the 'teachers path' (see: the system). Fighters are not (but they may help you person-to-person (unofficially). In weekly (normal) classes we train aspects of the game and eventually in advanced and expert classes they will come together. Sometimes excersizes or theory seems stupid and useless. But it's mostly not. We simply train you bit by bit and do not give you everything right away. It takes time to understand the game and all of it's aspects, and putting everything together ::smile::

During classes you wear your ranks / stripes (tags). You also wear these during exams. Further you are free to use what ever name you like to use ::smile:: Outside classes and exams. We use these tags to be able to recognize your level (as a player) more easily. You will find your player level also on your website profile (which will be updated when you pass exams). Information on that: here.
    Organisation

Official Terminative 3 Teachers and Trainers (Instructors, Masters and Grand Masters) will post a new topic in the ''Terminative 3 Classes'' (weekly classes or dynamic teachings) category / forum, when they start a new class (check out the weekly classes that are available now!!). Classes will focus on the practical applications of the theory. In the beginning explanations are needed (often also done over the voice-chat). But we're aiming on letting the student read or watch (demos, videos) as much as possible theory, before the course or class starts. This way you'll have more time to practice. Teachers and trainers often expect you to have read the literature as they mentioned in their topic (or demos). But don't worry, the core information will always be explained. A class often is devided in 3 parts (the exams are also). Knowledge (theory), Excersizes (practice) and Combat (fighting). Everything we do, and that you need to know is findable in the exam requirements: here. We do teach much more than the requirements, but they are the basic and are always required to know / understand / be able to perform when you do an exam. We often teach you much more of course, but this is all extra (we can't write everything down). Teachers (examinators) may only test you on this when it was clearly dealt with during the lessons and the teacher gave notice of him asking this (or that it can be asked) in an exam. Sometimes teachers tell you that you are ready to do an exam, and sometimes you'll have to do it on your own. More information on exams: here.

You are always free to join classes. You are also always free to request an exam, when you think you are ready (check the requirements!). You do not have to enroll or mention that you are coming. However, it would be nice of you to give notice of course ::smile::

    The Teacher

Only Grand Masters, Masters and Instructors may start a class / service when approved by the Management. On this page you will find the current teachers: groups. The person doing a class (teacher) will always add the following information in a 'sticky' topic within the class category (created by an Admin):

    1. Teacher's name and title (level / rank).
    2. An explanation on how you will work.
    3. Duration and type* of course.
    4. Time(s)** & date(s) (regularity).
    5. Which exam(s) (levels) the course focusses on.
    6. Contact information & additional rules.
    7. Literature / demos (video) to be read / watched.
    8. The server IP and/or voicechat IP (if different than standard***).

    * = A course can be everlasting (regular), or have a strict enroll period (start and finishing date).
** = Time(s) needs to be set in standard WET (GMT + 1) time.
*** = Terminative 3 EC server and Mumble server.

The teacher will have to include a link to this page:

    [ url=http://playjka.netgoo.org/?pid=11 ] [b ]WET TIME![ /b ][ /url ]

    Remove the spaces.

    The participant (student)

As a participant you will be able to post topics regarding the classes you take and share information. Teachers will post new information in their class category and topic. Keep an eye on the forums when you follow a class. Often teachers will tell you to download a file or read some literature. With time we expect more and more classes to start. When nobody shows up in a class, instructors will mostly leave after 10 minutes of waiting, so be on time! It is preferable to always be there 5 minutes before the start of a lesson. This 10 minutes rule applies to almost every class / event held in Terminative 3.
